The stone in this model acts as a displacer, causing an increase in fluid level, which correlates with free drug. With no fluid (drug) input and no clearance, there is an increase in fluid level (free drug).

The second model, shows what happens with fluid input (drug dosing) and clearance, ie, real life.

Note that the fluid level returns to the starting position after the stone is dropped in, equivalent to the free drug concentration returning to the starting level.
